Different from all other visual-motor integration because scores are reliable at the .80 level or above and .90 or above for the composites for all age groups. The scores are validated by many studies while the norms are based on a large (N=1,035) sample. The test is shown to be unbiased relative to race, gender, and handedness. The DTVP-3 has five subtests. The subtests form three composites: Motor-Reduced Visual Perception, Visual-Motor Integration, and General Visual Perception.

Eye-Hand Coordination Children must draw precise straight or curved lines in accordance with visual boundaries.

Copying Children must look at a sample figure and then draw it on a piece of paper. Figures become more and more complex.

Figure-Ground On a page with a confusing background, the children are shown figures and asked to find as many as they can within the confusing page.

Visual Closure A figure is shown to the children, and they are asked to pick the exact figure from a group of figures that have been incompletely drawn.

Form Constancy With a stimulus figure, the children are asked to find the same figure within a series of figures. The targeted figure may be hidden in a distracting background, have a different position, size, or shade.
