Automated washers disinfect using hot water, but, depending on the configuration of the individual washer, water temperature at the source is not always indicative of the temperature achieved on the instrument. While it’s important to validate water temperature, it's arguably more important to validate the temperature of the hardest to reach item in the batch to ensure thermal disinfection has occurred.
